Early Learning and Pre-K

Laying the Foundation for Lifelong Success
The Early Learning Department of Sumner County Schools in Tennessee is committed to supporting the developmental growth of our youngest learners. With nearly 30 classrooms located across multiple school sites, the department proudly serves approximately 400 students each year.
Our Early Learning programs are designed to support the diverse needs of all children, including those with special education needs, children identified as at risk, and typically developing peers. Through high-quality early childhood education, we foster growth across essential developmental areas such as language and communication, cognitive development, social-emotional skills, physical development, and early literacy and numeracy.
Guided by a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and whole-child development, our classrooms are led by certified early childhood educators and supported by specialized staff. Instructional teams collaborate closely with families, therapists, and support professionals to ensure each child receives individualized instruction and meaningful learning experiences.
Through the use of developmentally appropriate practices and evidence-based instruction, we provide safe, engaging, and enriching learning environments that lay a strong foundation for lifelong success. We believe early learning is more than preparation for kindergarten—it is a critical stage where curiosity is nurtured, confidence is built, and every child’s potential begins to flourish.
