Application Process for Sumner County Schools Employment Opportunities

  • All applicants interested in employment opportunities with Sumner County Schools must complete and submit an online application through the specific job posting(s) listed on the Sumner County Schools Job Board.
  • A resume does not replace the requirement to complete the official online application. Applicants may attach a resume, cover letter, license information, or other supporting documents within their application profile for additional consideration.
  • Applicants are responsible for reviewing current job openings and submitting an application for each individual position for which they wish to be considered. Submission of an application for one position does not automatically place an applicant under consideration for other vacancies.
  • Individuals interested in future employment opportunities are encouraged to regularly monitor the Sumner County Schools website and job board for updated postings.
  • Current Sumner County Schools employees who wish to be considered for a transfer or another position within the district must also submit an application through the applicable job posting in accordance with district hiring procedures.
  • Only completed applications submitted through the designated job posting process will be reviewed for consideration.

Certified Positions

  1. A completed online Sumner County Schools Certificated Application.
  2. At least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or if you are teaching a specialized trade (like auto-repair, culinary arts, or coding), you must have the industry experience and state-approved industry certification/ credentials.
  3. A valid Tennessee teaching license for the level and/or subject area related to the position. If the applicant does not hold a Tennessee teaching license, he or she must meet eligibility requirements. Requirements can be seen on the TN Department of Education website.
  4. Be licensed and endorsed in the core teaching subject area being applied for.
  5. If you are enrolled in or completing an alternative pathway to licensure, Job-Embedded, the educator must have passed the required Assessment or Praxis in Content Area.

Classified / Support Positions
