Empowering Learning Through Innovation and Connectivity
Welcome to the Information Services Department of Sumner County Schools. Serving over 30,000 students across Tennessee, our department plays a vital role in supporting modern, connected classrooms and ensuring seamless access to digital tools that enhance teaching and learning.
With a dedicated team of 26 professionals, we are proud to support students, educators, and staff with reliable technology solutions every day.
Our Mission
To provide innovative, secure, and effective technology systems that support academic excellence, operational efficiency, and digital equity for all learners and educators.
What We Do
The Technology Department is responsible for maintaining and advancing the district’s technology infrastructure and digital learning environment. Our work spans across several core areas:
- Device Deployment and Management: We’ve distributed over 20,000 tablets to middle and high school students and staff, ensuring equitable access to learning tools both in and out of the classroom.
- Network and Systems Administration: Our Network Administrators and System Administrators maintain the backbone of our digital ecosystem—ensuring that internet connectivity, servers, and data systems are secure, fast, and reliable across all campuses.
- Technical Support Services: A skilled team of PC Technicians delivers hands-on support for district hardware, software, and user needs—resolving issues quickly so that students and staff can stay focused on teaching and learning.
- Web and Digital Communications: Our Web Application Specialists manage the district and school websites, ensuring they are informative, user-friendly, and accessible. From daily updates to system-wide alerts, we help schools stay connected with families and the community.
- Cybersecurity and Data Integrity: We prioritize student and staff data privacy with best-in-class cybersecurity practices and compliance with state and federal regulations.
Driving Digital Equity
Our commitment to closing the digital divide has led to one of the largest device distributions in the region. By placing tablets in the hands of over 20,000 middle and high school students and staff, we’re ensuring that every learner has the tools they need to succeed in a digital world.
Looking Ahead
As technology evolves, so do we. From infrastructure upgrades to next-generation learning platforms, our team is constantly working behind the scenes to create a future-ready learning environment for every student in Sumner County Schools.
