Technology Department

Who We Are

The Technology Department is responsible for maintaining computers in the schools, supporting the network infrastructure, hosting and assisting with the development of websites, maintaining email accounts, and much more.

To provide all of these services, we rely on the skills of our elite departmental staff, along with the support of exceptional volunteer  School Technology Specialists in each school.   The School Technology Specialists are teachers, librarians, administrators, and other folks who generously offer their time to provide on-site technical assistance and coordinate with the Technology Department for additional support.   Thanks to their devoted efforts, the district is able to keep computer systems running with only a small team of full-time technicians.

Technology in Sumner County Schools

Sumner County schools has over 6,000 computers in service, which is approximately one computer for every five students.   Approximately 40% of these computers are Apple computers running the Mac operating system, 59% are PCs running a version of the Windows operating system, and 1% use the Linux operating system.

Digital Dangers

Sumner County Schools is presenting a one-hour session for parents on Digital Dangers. These sessions will be offered in each community throughout the county and will discuss online sexual exploration, web filtering, cyber-stalkers, cyber-bullying, and more.  For more information, contact the technology department at 451-6513 or download the Digital Dangers handout.
