Brian Howard, Special Education Technology Consultant (615) 451-6352 Jeremy Stokes, Special Education Computer Technician (615) 451-5200 Although often associated with computers and other hardware, technology in special education goes beyond any particular machine or medium. It is an orderly way of designing, implementing, and evaluating the total process of teaching and learning in order to bring about more effective learning for our students. Computers and other technologies play a key role in support of teaching and learning and are an important aspect of educational technology in Sumner County where the focus is always on student outcomes. In order to bring about more effective learning, Special Education uses a variety of research-based software programs such as Orchard, My Reading Coach, Inspiration, and Kidspiration, just to name a few.
